R. Douglas Wells

R. Douglas Wells is a distinguished attorney with extensive experience in civil litigation, family law, business law, personal injury, and estate planning. He earned his B.A. from the University of Iowa in 1978, graduating with honors and making the Dean’s List. Continuing his education at the University of Iowa College of Law, he graduated with distinction in 1981. Admitted to the Iowa State Bar and the Colorado Bar (currently inactive) in 1981, he has built a reputable legal career over the decades.

Mr. Wells has been actively involved in various professional and community organizations. He served as President of the Scott County Bar Association from 1997 to 1998 and is a member of the Iowa Bar association, and the Iowa Association for Justice. His civic contributions are substantial, including long-term involvement with the Community Resources Corporation as a trustee and past president since 1981, and leadership roles with the Bettendorf Schools Foundation and the First Presbyterian Church Foundation. In 2011, he was honored as the Scott County Pro Bono Project Volunteer Attorney of the Year. Additionally, he has served as an Assistant Scott County Attorney from 1982 to 1986 and has been a part-time Judicial Magistrate Judge since 1989.

As an attorney, Mr. Wells has served as lead counsel in over 100 jury trials and numerous bench trials, successfully obtaining verdicts or settlements exceeding $1 million in two cases and over $100,000 in many others. He is married to and has two adult children. In his leisure time, he enjoys skiing, boating, and traveling. A dedicated professional and community leader, R. Douglas Wells continues to make significant contributions to both his clients and his community.
