Garth M. Carlson
Garth M. Carlson has been practicing law since 1996. He has been practicing law in the Quad Cities since 1999. Mr. Carlson has a diverse practice that includes representing injured persons in personal injury and worker’s compensation matters, helping persons with various family law matters including divorce, paternity and custody issues, modifications of orders and support matters, representing accused persons in traffic and criminal matters, setting up small businesses and assisting with estate planning.
Garth graduated with a B.A. from the University of Iowa in 1992 and is a proud Hawkeye. He travelled west and obtained his law degree, with honors, from the University of Washington School of Law (Seattle) in 1996. Garth was admitted to practice in Oregon (1996) and Washington (1997)(currently on inactive status in those states), and then returned to Iowa in 1999 and was admitted to practice in Illinois in 1999 and Iowa in 2000. Garth has practiced with Gomez May, LLP, since 2001. Garth enjoys his career, fellow attorneys and those he has the fortune of helping.
Professionally, Garth is a member of the Scott County Bar Association and has been on the Executive Counsel since 2023. He is a member of the Iowa Bar Association, the Iowa Association for Justice, the Illinois Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.
Garth is a past board member of Quad Cities Mediation Services, has volunteered to judge for mock trial, is on the Davenport Civil Service Commission, and is a supporter of HELP Legal Aid. Garth has served as Scott Drug Court Defense Counsel since 2004 through a special contract with the State Public Defender’s Office. He has shown his commitment to representing those suffering from addiction use the tools necessary to make significant life changes.
Garth is married with two children in college and one in elementary school. Garth enjoys spending time with his family, running, bicycling and caring for three dogs. The best days are those spent outside, trying to keep up with his wife, Donna.
